MADISON, Wis. - Emili Leyden has been promoted to the role of Director of Operations for the Wisconsin women's basketball program, as announced by head coach Robin Pingeton on Thursday.

"I'm thrilled that Emili will be staying on with our staff," Pingeton said. "She has played such a vital role within our women's basketball program, and her continued presence means a great deal to our team both on and off the court. Emili brings a level of dedication, positivity, and work ethic that truly elevates those around her."

Leyden originally joined the women's basketball staff in 2018 as a program assistant and was elevated to Director of Recruiting in March 2023 under the previous coaching staff.

In that role, Leyden oversaw recruiting logistics, managed on-campus visits, coordinated travel, and supported the coaching staff in various aspects of program operations. She also led the day-to-day operations of the Badger Girls Summer Basketball Camps.

From 2018 to 2023, Leyden served as the program assistant, where she supported all facets of team travel, business office functions, and daily operations, while working closely with the director of operations to ensure that all program logistics met staff and departmental standards.

"I am so grateful for this opportunity," exclaimed Leyden. "Wisconsin is an incredible place and Coach Pingeton has exciting vision for the program's future. I truly believe that we can build something special here. "

A native of Nashotah, Wisconsin, Leyden graduated from the University of Wisconsin in May 2018 with degrees in history and legal studies, along with a certificate in gender and women's studies. During her undergraduate years, she served as a student manager for the women's basketball team for three seasons.
