Badgers face Hawkeyes in last regular season game

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (13-15, 4-13 B1G) is set to travel to face the Iowa Hawkeyes (19-9, 9-8 BIG) for their game of the regular season. The teams will meet on Sunday, March. 2nd with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. (CT). The match up can be streamed on Peacock and broadcast on 1070 AM and the iHeartRadio app.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Iowa Hawkeyes:

1. A GLANCE AT THE SEASON: The Badgers hold a 13-15 overall record and a 4-13 mark in conference play, having battled some of the toughest opponents in college basketball. Serah Williams continues to shine, averaging 19.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Williams is the only player in the Power 4 conferences and one of only two players in Division I averaging at least 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. The other player is Allyson Fertig from Wyoming, who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

2. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers dropped to the No. 2 UCLA Bruins 91-61.Williams led UW with 22 points, for her fourteenth game of the season with 20+ points. The junior went 8-15 from the field and 6-8 from the free throw line, while adding five rebounds and one steal. As a team, Wisconsin shot 38.3% (23-69) from the field, 53.8% and 25.0% (11-17) at the free-throw line. 

3. SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES: Iowa enters this match up with a 19-9 overall record. They have faced challenges in the Big Ten posting a 9-8 record in conference play. The Hawkeyes are coming off dominate 79-66 win over the Michigan Wolverines. Under the leadership of head coach Jen Jensen, Iowa averages 74.4 points per game and pulls down 38.6 rebounds per game.

4. HISTORY WITH IOWA: The Badgers last faced the Hawkeyes in the 2023-24 campaign and came home with a 96-50 loss. Wisconsin has not bested Iowa since the 2007 season and it looking to break their losing streak.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: The Badgers will travel to Indiana to play in the Big Ten Tournament with the first game taking place March 5th.
