Wisconsin set to duel the Fighting Illini

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (11-12, 2-10 B1G) will stay in the Kohl Center to battle the Fighting Illini (17-5, 7-4 B1G). Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, Feb. 9. The game will be streamed on Big Ten Plus and broadcast on 1070 AM and iHeartRadio.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Fighting Illini:

1. A GLANCE AT THE SEASON: The Badgers hold an 11-12 overall record and a 2-10 mark in conference play, having faced some of the toughest opponents in college basketball. Serah Williams continues to shine, averaging 19.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Williams is one of just two players nationally with at least 18.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game (alongside LSU's Morrow). She has scored 20+ points in five of her last six games and is only the second Badger since 2000 to average 18+ points per game, joining Jolene Anderson.

2. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin fell to No. 7 USC in a tough match up. The Badgers kept it close in the first and early part of the second quarter, getting within three points. However, the Trojans took control of the game before halftime and did not relent until the final buzzer. Tess Myers was perfect from the field, going 4-for-4. Carter McCray tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

3. SCOUTING THE FIGHTING ILLINI: Illinois enters this contest with a 17-5 record and has been successful in conference play, posting a 7-4 record. The Fighting Illini are coming off a win against Northwestern, beating them score. Led by head coach Shauna Green, the team averages 72.0 points per game and pulls down 37.5 rebounds per game.Ā

4. HISTORY WITH ILLINOIS: The Badgers last met the Fighting Illini in the 2023-24 campaign, where they bested them in Champaign with a 67-61 win. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 42-40 and has an overall winning record when facing Illinois in Madison.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: The Badgers will travel to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Fans can tune in on Big Ten Plus or listen to the broadcast on 1070 AM and iHeartRadio.Ā
