Starting Five: Badgers ready to battle Bruins

Wisconsin hosts No. 2 UCLA in final home game of the season

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (13-14, 4-12 B1G) is set to host the No. 2 UCLA Bruins (26-1, 14-1 BIG) for theĀ last home game of the regular season. The teams will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. (CT). The game can be streamed on Peacock and broadcast on 1070 AM and the iHeartRadio app.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the UCLA Bruins:

1. A GLANCE AT THE SEASON: The Badgers hold a 13-14 overall record and a 4-12 mark in conference play, having battled some of the toughest opponents in college basketball. Serah Williams continues to shine, averaging 19.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Williams is the only player in the Power 4 conferences and one of only two players in Division I averaging at least 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.Ā The other player is Allyson Fertig from Wyoming, who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

2. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers bested the Northwestern Wildcats 73-68. Carter McCray earned a season-high 22 points and tailed 11 rebounds to gain her fourth double-double of the season. Ronnie Porter led the team in assists with eight while Tess Myers showcased her impressive three-point shooting going 3-of-4. As a team, Wisconsin shot 43.1% (28-56) from the field, 53.8% (7-13) from beyond the arc, and 62.5% (10-16) at the free-throw line.Ā 

3. SCOUTING THE BRUINS: UCLA enters this game ranked No. 2 in the country and holds a 26-1 overall record. They have been incredibly successful in their first season in the Big Ten posting a 14-1 record in conference play. The Bruins are coming off a narrow 67-65 win against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Under the leadership of head coach Cori Close, UCLA averages 78.7 points per game and pulls down 44.2 rebounds per game.

4. HISTORY WITH UCLA: This will be the first match-up in program history as the Badgers have never faced the Bruins before. The all-time series is tied 0-0.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: The Badgers will travel to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the last game of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, Mar 2, with the game streaming on Peacock and broadcast on 100.9 FM and the iHeartRadio app.
