Wisconsin looks to overcome Oregon and Washington

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (10-4, 1-2 B1G) begins 2025 conference play with a trip out west to face two new Big Ten foes: Oregon (10-4, 1-2 B1G) on and Washington (11-4, 2-1 B1G). The Badgers will first square off against the Oregon Ducks, on Saturday, Jan. 4 with tip-off set for 2:30 p.m. (CT) before meeting the Huskies on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. (CT).

Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Oregon Ducks:

1. A GLANCE AT THE SEASON: Wisconsin enters the weekend hoping to secure its second Big Ten win. After defeating Rutgers in their conference opener, the Badgers have dropped games to Indiana and Minnesota. With these two pivotal West Coast games on the horizon, the Badgers look to rebound and get back on track in league play.

2. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin fell to Minnesota 59-50 in a hard-fought New Year's Eve border battle. The Badgers struggled early, with the Golden Gophers jumping out to a 23-4 lead after the first quarter. Wisconsin rallied in the final period, outscoring Minnesota 20-10, but couldn't narrow the deficit. Senior forward Serah Williams led the Badgers with 16 points and 11 rebounds, earning her 10th double-double of the season. As a team, Wisconsin shot 35.9% (19-53) from the field and 80.0% (8-10) from the free-throw line.

3. SCOUTING THE DUCKS: Oregon enters this contest coming off a dominant 85-65 win at Northwestern. Under head coach Kelly Graves, the Ducks sport a 10-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Big Ten play. Offensively, Oregon averages 73.6 points per game, while pulling down 37.9 rebounds per contest. The Badgers have faced Oregon thrice in program history, with the last match up coming in 2009. Wisconsin leads the series 2-1.

4. SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: Wisconsin's most recent encounter with the Huskies came in the 2012-13 season, resulting in an 80-67 defeat. The Badgers trail the all-time series 1-4 and will look to break a three-game losing streak against Washington. The Huskies, coached by Tina Langley, are 11-4 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play. In their most recent game, Washington defeated Illinois 84-75.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: After the West Coast road trip, Wisconsin will return home to host the Maryland Terrapins for a Saturday afternoon showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT, on Jan. 11, and the game will be available for streaming on the Big Ten Network.
