MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (13-16, 6-12 B1G) is set to play the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (25-6, 17-1 OVC) in round two of the 2024 Women's National Invitation Tournament on Monday, Mar. 25. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Screaming Eagles Arena and the game can be streamed live on ESPN+ or listened to on 1070 WTSO-AM.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers matchup against the Screaming Eagles:

1. HISTORY IN THE WNIT: Wisconsin will make its first appearance in the WNIT since the 2010-11 season and seventh overall in program history. In 2011, the Badgers advanced to the second round before losing to Illinois State, 62-59, on Mar. 20. In the past, Wisconsin has found success in the WNIT, advancing to the championship game three times and winning it in 2000. In the championship game, the Badgers downed the Florida Gators, 75-74 inside the Kohl Center on Mar. 29, 2000.

2. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers' WNIT appearance will mark their first time back on the court since Mar. 7 when the team faced the Penn State Nittany Lions in round two of the TIAA Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament. Wisconsin secured a 10 seed and first round bye for the second consecutive year and played against a Penn State team they had defeated earlier in the season. Serah Williams continued her record-breaking season by recording her 16th-straight double-double to surpass Megan Gustafson's Big Ten record of 15 consecutive double-doubles from the 2018-19 season. Ronnie Porter chipped in a team-high 15 points this game and shot 50.0%,

3. HISTORY WITH SOUTHERN INDIANA: Monday's second-round WNIT game will be the inaugural contest between Wisconsin and Southern Indiana.

4. SCOUTING THE SCREAMING EAGLES: With a 25-6 record, USI claimed both regular and tournament titles in the OVC this season boasting a 17-1 conference record. The Screaming Eagles were an automatic qualifier into the WNIT and are coached by Rick Stein, who has been at the helm of the program since 1999. As previous members of the GLVC, the Screaming Eagles had a dominant presence in Division II before jumping to the OVC (DI) in the 2022-23 season. The team averages 72.4 ppg, with their leading scorer being Vanessa Shafford (13.9 ppg). Defensively, USI is holding its opponents to 35.9% from the field and grabbing an average of 7.0 steals per game.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: If Wisconsin advances past Southern Indiana, the team will move onto the Super 16 which takes place between Wednesday, Mar. 27 and Friday, Mar. 29 This would mark Wisconsin's third time making it to the third round of the WNIT in seven attempts.
