COLLEGE PARK, M.D. —  The Wisconsin women's basketball team (13-13, 6-10 B1G) will head out on its final regular-season road trip of the season to play Maryland (16-11, 8-8 B1G) on Thursday, Feb. 29. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. from the Xfinity Center and the game can be streamed live on Big Ten Network or listened to on 1070 WTSO-AM.Â
Here are five things to know before the Badgers matchup against the Terrapins:
1. LEUZINGER LIGHTING UP: In Sunday's game against Purdue on Feb. 25, Natalie Leuzinger set a couple of shooting records during her 18 point performance. The senior beat her old 15-point scoring record notched against Purdue back on Dec. 30, 2023 and made four three pointers which was also a career-high. Leuzinger has averaged 13.0 points over the last three games, six points above her career high, and has drained eight triples in the process.
2. DOUBLE-DOUBLE DOMINANCE: With 11 points and 10 rebounds this past weekend, Serah Williams secured her 13th-straight double double and 16th of the season. Williams is tied for ninth in the NCAA in total double-doubles and continues to elongate her program-leading consecutive double-double title.
3. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE B1G TOURNAMENT: In tenth place with two games to go, the final two games of the regular season will largely impact Wisconsin's seeding in the Big Ten Tournament, beginning March 6 in Minneapolis, Minn. Depending on how the Badgers perform and other teams with similar records, the team could end up anywhere between seventh place and twelfth place. Wisconsin is currently one game ahead of Minnesota and Purdue and just one game behind Penn State and Illinois, making for an exciting end of the regular season.Â
4. HISTORY WITH MARYLAND: The Badgers and Terrapins will face off for the 13th time in each program's history and for the seventh time in College Park.  The first game between Wisconsin and Maryland dates back to Jan. 5, 1982 when the Terrapins won, 91-62 at home. Since then, Maryland has controlled every other matchup, leading the series 12-0.
5. SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS: The Terrapins are 16-11 overall and 8-8 in the Big Ten, placing them at seventh in the conference. The team has done an excellent job of protecting its home court this season, only falling to No. 18 Ohio State, No. 10 Indiana and No. 3 Iowa inside the Xfinity Center. Maryland is led in scoring by Shyanne Sellers, who averages 15.4 points per game and reels in 6.0 rebounds per contest. The junior is eighth in the Big Ten in average points per game and fifth in the conference in assists with an average of 5.4. She is backed up by Jakia Brown-Turner, who collects 13.6 points a game and 6.1 rebounds.
