FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team faced Boston College in the final game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off presented by Elevance Health. The Badgers defeated the Eagles with a score of 82-72.

This was the first meeting between both programs since the 2013-14 season.

Sania Copeland had a career day, scoring 18 points (6-13 FG, 4-10 3FG, 2-2 FT).

Wisconsin pulled away and grabbed an early lead, with Serah Williams netting the first four points of the game. Williams went on to score 4-5 field goals in the first. Sania Copeland and Natalie Leuzinger proved to be hot at the three-point line to keep the Badgers in the lead, 19-15, going into the second.

UW went on a drought of scoring early in the second, but Ana Guillen broke it with a layup.  Guillen remained hot, and registered a steal and another layup. The Eagles then went on to take the lead after a pair of free throws, bringing the game to a halftime score of 35-32.

Leuzinger grabbed the three-point equalizer to open up the third, followed by a layup by Copeland. Boston College pulled away to take the lead again, but the Badgers went on a nine-point run to take the the game back.

The Badgers opened up scoring in the third with a six-point run to take the lead once again, 62-58. Williams capitalized on an Eagle turnover to bring her point count to 14. Copeland was feeling the energy and scored a layup and a three-point shot to score a career-high 16 points. The Badgers now had a seven-point lead. The Badgers went on a hot streak to keep the lead and grab another win, 82-72.

Wisconsin shot 53.6% (30-56) from the field range, and 45.5% (10-22) from 3-point range. The Badgers shot 92.3% from the free-throw line (12-13), the best of the season.

Notes to know

·       Natalie Leuzinger was perfect in scoring (4-4 FG, 1-1 3FG, and 1-1 FT) throughout the first half. Leuzinger also claimed a career-high 14 points.

·       Sania Copeland registered a career-high 16 points ( 6-13FG, 4-10 3FG, 2-2 FT).

·       The Badgers were 92.3% at the free-throw line (12-13), the best the team has had this season.
