FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team heads to the Fort Myers Tip Off and will play Arkansas in its first of two tournament games. The two teams will play inside Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Friday, Nov. 24 beginning at 1 p.m.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers matchup against Razorbacks.
1. SERAH'S LEADING STATS: In the Badgers' game against the Wildcats on Sunday, Serah Williams led all players with season-highs in points (22) and rebounds (9). This brings the sophomore's average points on the season to 14.5 per game, which is accompanied by an average of eight rebounds and 2.5 blocks a game.
2. SANIA'S FIRST START: In her home state, Sania Copeland, a Kansas City, Kan. native earned her first-career start against K-State This season, the sophomore is averaging 8.3 points, with a 52.2 field goal percentage and 40.0 3-point percentage. Copeland is also averaging 3.5 assists per game, and leads the Badgers in three-pointers made.
3. PORTER'S DOUBLE-DIGIT SCORING: For the third-consecutive game, Ronnie Porter scored in double digits, contributing 15 against the Wildcats. After averaging just 1.5 points, and totaling 40 points in the 2022-23 season, Porter has shown vast improvements between her freshman and sophomore seasons. Thus far, Ronnie has tallied 51 points in just four games, and averages 6.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.3 steals per game.
4. FORT MYERS TIP OFF: After competing in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands just a season ago, Wisconsin will play in the Fort Myers Tip Off this Thanksgiving Weekend. For the first time in the event's history, eight teams, rather than four, will partake in the tournament from Nov. 23-25 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Florida SouthWestern State College's campus. The eight teams are divided into two brackets, and Wisconsin will play in the Shell Division, which runs from Nov. 24 to Nov. 25. Aside from Arkansas, the two other teams in the division are Marquette and Boston College.
5. SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS: Wisconsin will play Arkansas for the third time in the last six years, and will meet up for the first time since the 2019-20 season. The last time the two teams faced off was at the Bahamas Hoopfest in Nassau Bahamas on Nov. 30, 2019, and the Badgers fell 68-64 to the No. 25 ranked Razorbacks This season, Arkansas 5-0 for the second consecutive year, and the third time in the last five seasons . The team is led by freshman Taliah Scott, who is currently averaging 24.6 points per game with a 48.3 field-goal percentage.
