MANHATTAN, KS. — Wisconsin traveled to Kansas State for its first road game of the season on Sunday, Nov. 19. Although Serah Williams scored 22 points, the team fell 75-57 for their first loss of the season.
Sania Copeland, the Kansas City, Kan. native, got her first-career start in her home state. After a slow offensive start, Ronnie Porter got the Badger scoring underway with a floater 4:37 into the game. Brooke Schramek followed this up with a three-point field goal, and the team's quarter one scoring ending with a smooth assist from Porter to Williams, who laid it in at the rim. Wisconsin turned the ball over seven times in the first ten minutes, and trailed after the first quarter, 20-9.Â
Williams got started right away in the second quarter with a layup 17 seconds in, but K-State's scoring remained consistent. The Wildcats went on an 8-0 run before Williams made a turnaround jumper to break the team's rhythm. After that, Wisconsin locked in, with buried shots from Copeland, Schramek and Williams' third-career three to shrink the lead to nine. Heading into the locker room at half, Wisconsin was down 35-25.
A jumper from Porter got the offense started about three minutes into the second half, but Wisconsin was overpowered by Kansas State. The team scored 40 points in the last 20 minutes, and went 16-32 from field-goal range and 5-9 from three. Wisconsin was defeated for the first time this season, 75-57.
Wisconsin shot 40.0% (20-50) from the field range, and 16.7% (3-18) from 3-point range. The Badgers shot a season-best 82.4% (14-17)Â from the free-throw line. The team finished with 32 rebounds and 14 assists.
Kansas State went 46.2% (30-64)Â from field-goal range, including 44.0% (11-25)Â from behind the arc. The Wildcats were 40.0% (4-10) from the free-throw line. All-American Ayoka Lee finished the game with a team-high 20 points (9-16 FG, 3-8 3FG, 1-2 FT) and tallied eight rebounds.

Wisconsin will travel to Florida for the Fort Myers Tip Off, which is set to take place on Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25. Wisconsin will play Arkansas at 1 p.m. on Friday, and will play either Marquette or Boston College at 4 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. the following day.
