Wisconsin | St. Thomas

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin (3-8, 0-2 B1G) returns home to play St. Thomas (4-4, 0-0 Summit) on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tip time is 1 p.m. from the Kohl Center and the game can be streamed on B1G+ or listened to on WTSO.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers compete against the Tommies:

1. LOOKING TO GET BACK ON TRACK: Wisconsin has been struggling to get a win in the past few games, and will look to try and use its non-conference matchup with St. Thomas to secure a victory. Sunday's game will mark Sydney Hilliard's second game back in the Kohl Center, and her recent addition to the roster has definitely been a positive. After sitting out the first eight games, Hilliard is averaging 7.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.0 minutes per game in the last three contests.

2. FRESHMAN LEADS TEAM: Serah Williams may just be a freshman, but she's proving to be a competitive force in the Big Ten early on. The forward secured 18 points (8-15 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2-3 FT) against the Huskers, which is her second time reaching that mark in 11-career games. Williams is averaging 16.5 points through her first two conference games, well above her season-average of 13.2 points.

3. LABARBERA LOCKED IN: Graduate transfer Avery LaBarbera scored 17 points (6-12 FG, 5-7 3FG) against Nebraska on Wednesday, the most she's recorded in her short career as a Badger. She notched a season-high in 3-pointers with five, with three coming in the third quarter. The guard finished the night leading the team in rebounds with five and assists with three.

4. ELLEW'S ST. THOMAS REMATCH: The last time the Badgers squared up against the Tommies, Krystyna Ellew played the best game of her career. In her first collegiate appearance, the freshman led all scorers with 29 points, which tied for fifth on the UW single-game scoring list for freshmen. She went 9-15 from the field, including 3-5 from 3-point range. She also went 8-8 from the free throw line while adding five rebounds, two blocks and one steal.

5. SCOUTING THE TOMMIES: Wisconsin is set to take on St. Thomas for the second-straight season, and will look for similar results to the year prior. The two teams last met on Nov. 10, 2021 and the Badgers outlasted the Tommies by a final score of 67-51. The team is led by Second-Team All Summit League honoree Jade Hill, who is first on St. Thomas with 13.0 points, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game. The sophomore is one of 12 underclassmen on a young Tommies roster that has just three upperclassmen.
