MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin (4-9, 0-2 B1G) will return to the court and Big Ten play as it welcomes Illinois to Madison on Thursday, Dec. 29. Tip time is set for 6:30 p.m. from the Kohl Center and the game can be streamed on B1G+ or listened to on WTSO.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers compete against the Fighting Illini.
1. BACK IN ACTION: Wisconsin will take the court for the first time after a 14-day break between games. The Badgers last played Dec. 14 at Green Bay, where they fell 70-60, and their Dec. 22 matchup against Valpo was postponed due to inclement weather.
2. KOHL CENTER ADVANTAGE: The Badgers have won three of their four games this season at the Kohl Center, and up their scoring average to 82.0 ppg, compared to averaging 69.3 ppg over all 13 games. Furthermore, Wisconsin has surpassed the 70-point mark in all five home games.
3. WORK OF WILLIAMS: Serah Williams ranks sixth in the conference in blocks per game (1.2) and has led the Badgers in blocks in 8-of-13 games. Williams is a threat on both ends of the floor as she ranks second on the team in rebounds (11.8) and third in points (11.8) per game. The freshman got off to a strong start over Wisconsin's first two Big Ten games, averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting 52.0% from the floor.
4. SCHRAMEK'S SUCCESS: Brooke Schramek has heated up offensively over the last two games, averaging 17.0 points while shooting 56.2% from the floor. The junior has been steady at the charity stripe as well, making 15-of-17 attempts during that stretch.
5. SCOUTING THE FIGHTING ILLINI: Illinois enters Thursday's contest with an 11-2 record and stands at 1-1 in conference play. Makira Cook, who missed the previous two games, leads the team in scoring (17.9) and ranks second in assists (4.2) per game. Genisis Bryant notched the third triple-double in program history in Illinois most recent outing, an 81-46 win over Florida Atlantic, with 22 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
