MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin (1-2) continues its tough stretch of five games in 10 days when it returns home to host Chicago State (0-4) on Monday in the Kohl Center. Tip Time is 6:30 p.m. and streamed live on B1G+.
The Badgers travel to Milwaukee (2-2) on Wednesday, tipping off against the Panthers at 6 p.m. from the Klotsche Center. Wisconsin then heads to Boulder, Colorado, on for the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic where it faces Boise State and host Colorado on Saturday and Sunday.
1. BACK HOME FOR THE COUGARS: In its first road contest of the season, the Badgers fell at Bradley Friday night, 64-57. The game came down to the fourth quarter where the Braves outscored Wisconsin 19-13, including 11-16 from the free-throw line as the Badgers were forced to foul, picking up 11 fouls in the fourth quarter alone. 2. CZECH OUT JULIE!: Junior Julie Pospíšilová returned for her first game with the Badgers this season after missing the first two games of the season, playing with the Czech National Team in the European Championship. The junior totaled 17 points while adding a team-high eight rebounds and sharing team-high honors with six assists.
3. SYD THE KID DOES IT AGAIN: Junior
Sydney Hilliard has scored in double figures all three games this season, averaging a team-best 18.0 points per game, which ties for sixth in the Big Ten. The 5-foot-11 forward scored a season-high 19 points at Bradley while adding seven rebounds and two steals. Hilliard is also shooting a team-best 53.5%, which ranks 14th in the Big Ten.
4. TAKING CARE OF THE BALL: Wisconsin has been taking great care of the ball this season, ranking second in the Big Ten with 11.7 turnovers per game. That is an improvement of more than 5.0 turnovers per game from 2020-21. Graduate student
Katie Nelson leads the Badgers and ties for ninth in the Big Ten with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.0. The guard averages 5.3 assists per game while turning the ball over only 1.3 times per game.
5. SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE: The Cougars (0-4) forced a season-high 15 steals but fell to Loyola Chicago in a game that featured a CSU lead after a quarter. Powered by
Ana Haklicka, who scored a season-high 13 points, the Cougars led, 16-14, but saw that lead fizzle late in a 71-59Â loss. Freshman
Aaliyah Collins scored 12 and forced four steals, but Loyola Chicago shot 62% from the field in the Ramblers' second win.
Only three players from last season's roster return for Coach Sardin's bunch: Christina Britter, Ana Haklicka and Laura Segues. Sardin has added two assistant coaches, Tiffany Conner and Diana Martinez, two freshman, Taylor Norris and Aaliyah Collins, and six transfers: Quentarra Mitchell, Nafa Haidara, Kyjai Miles, Janiah Newell, Jazmine Covington and Allysah "Cookie" Boothe.Chicago State faces its final game in the Midwest before a Thanksgiving trip to Miami for the Florida International University Thanksgiving Tournament, which starts on Friday.
