BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Despite a career-high 19 points from Dakota Whyte, the Wisconsin women's basketball team couldn't get a win over Indiana, falling 69-52 at Assembly Hall on Sunday afternoon.
The Badgers (6-9 overall, 2-3 Big Ten) were led by the junior's game-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shots and junior Nicole Bauman chipped in 15 points, but that wasn't enough to overcome scoring droughts, turnovers and Indiana's (12-4 overall, 2-3 Big Ten) balanced scoring. Five Hoosiers scored in double digits and IU forced 21 turnovers while only committing 11.

With Wisconsin making 21-of-65 shots (32.3 percent) and Indiana shooting 22-of-65 (33.8 percent), big runs, 3-pointers and free throws made the difference. The Badgers went 4-of-13 (30.8 percent) from 3-point range, while the Hoosiers converted 7-of-21 (33.3 percent).
UW went to the free-throw line just nine times, making 6-of-9 for 66.7 percent, while Indiana made it to the charity stripe 20 times, going 18-for-20 for 90.0 percent.
The Hoosiers jumped out to a 5-0 lead (19:01) to start the game, but a layup from Whyte at the 18:22 mark started a 9-3 Wisconsin run to give the Badgers a 12-8 lead with 15:26 to play in the first half.
Indiana countered with 7-2 run of their own to steal back the lead (15-14) with 11:39 remaining in the first. While Wisconsin was able to close the IU gap to two points (20-18) with 8:15 remaining, the Badgers would not get any closer for the remainder of the game.
A nearly four-minute scoring drought for UW and a 16-0 run from Indiana gave the Hoosiers a 36-18 lead with 4:34 to play in the half. A layup (2:13) followed by a 3-pointer from Bauman at the 1:36 mark cut IU's lead to 11 (41-30) but Indiana sunk two free throws in the final minute to go up 43-30 at the half.
Similar to the first half, the Hoosiers pushed the pace to start the second, extending their lead to 18 (50-32) with 16:35 to play. Layups from Whyte and Gulczynski, and another three from Bauman contributed to an 8-1 run by the Badgers, who cut IU's lead to 51-40 with 13:48 to play.
A layup from junior Tessa Cichy cut the Badgers deficit to nine, trailing 55-46 at the 9:19 mark. UW would cut Indiana's lead to nine once more with 6:31 to go off of a layup from Whyte. But it wasn't enough as the Hoosiers then used a 10-0 run to push their lead to 67-48 with 3:13 remaining and cruise to a 69-52 victory.
Wisconsin outrebounded Indiana 47-41, marking the seventh time this season that UW has tallied more than 40 boards. Fifth-year senior Cassie Rochel recorded her fifth game of the season with 10-or-more rebounds, pulling down a team-high 10 boards.
Rochel added six points to her 10 rebounds, while Gulczynski tallied eight points and eight rebounds.
Four Hoosiers scored 11 points to lead Indiana, while Alexis Gassion tallied a game-high 16 rebounds.
