Beckman, Erlandson lead UW in top-20

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Wisconsin men's golf team is in fifth at 19-over after Day 1 of the Hoosier Collegiate at the Pfau Course in Bloomington, Indiana. The field played round one early in the day, before getting through 14-15 holes of Round 2 until darkness hit. Play will resume at 7:45 a.m. CT, with continuous play of Sunday's final round to follow.

Grad student Jacob Beckman leads UW in 15th at +2 after an opening round 72 (+1). He played the back-nine at -2, getting back on course from some early bogeys. Redshirt sophomore Charles Erlandson joins him in the top-20 in 18th at +3. He's currently one-under in the second round with three holes to play.

Senior Spencer Turtz is in 31st at +6 after a Round 1 73 (+2). The Charlotte native is seeking his third-straight top-40 finish.

Redshirt freshman Jason Shwartz has bounced back nicely, currently at one-under for the second round and in 40th. The junior is three-under since the eighth hole, and has four to play.

Sophomore William Harned scored for UW in the first round at +9, and is now in 79th. Competing individually, true freshman Vijay Kumar is in 61st at +11.
