Shwartz leads Badgers among tough field
SAUCIER, Miss. — Wisconsin men's golf junior Jason Shwartz tied for 36th place to lead the Badgers at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational at Fallen Oak Golf Club in Saucier, Mississippi. The Badgers finished 14th overall at 46-over across three rounds in their final tournament of the fall season.
Shwartz finished seven-over for the tournament, highlighted by an opening-round 71 (-1). He followed with a 74 (+2) on Sunday and on Monday he shot a 76 (+4).
William Harned tied for 49th in the tournament with a total score of 10-over. Harned tied a 43-year-old school record with a 62 (-9) at the Raider Individual last week. Harned's first round this tournament was a 74 (+2) while his second round was a 73 (+1). He finished his tournament with a 75 (+3).
Charles Erlandson tied for 66th place with a score of 14-over, including a second-round 77 (+5). In the final round, he was able to close out with a 74 (+2).
Freshman Joseph Gutierrez completed the fall tied for 71st place at 17-over while Cody Guetzke ended up tied for 80th at 21-over. Guetzke posted a score of 79 (+7) in the last round of play.
Wisconsin opened the tournament at 14-over before shooting a 20-over in the second round. They were able to improve in their final round with a 12-over round. Arkansas, Illinois, and South Carolina tied for first at four-over.
