UW men's rowing races on the West Coast
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Wisconsin men's crew will travel to the West Coast for the Cal Classic on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 and 5.
1. WHAT TO KNOW --Â No. 15 UW will race in Northern California this weekend against No. 2 California, No. 9 Stanford, No. 19 Temple, No. 21 Oregon State, No. 24 University of California San Diego (UCSD), and No. 25 Santa Clara.
The Badgers found some close second-place finishes in last year's battle in the Bay Area. However, they came out on top in two boats on the second day.Â

Â2. WHERE THEY LEFT OFF – UW kicked off its spring season in Ohio for a regatta at Marietta College. The men's rowing team competed against Marietta, Mercyhurst and MSOE for some friendly competition.Â
The Badgers won every race they entered and started their season off with a bang. UW's record time for the day was 5:14.9, during round one of the varsity eight race.

3. ALUMNI HONOR Â -- 2025 UW grad and previous captain of the Wisconsin men's rowing team, Will Klipstine, was just named to the Cambridge University Boat Club Blue Boat.
As a Badger, Klipstine was a 2025 Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) First Team All-American and two-time Wisconsin Norman. R. Sonju Award winner. Recipients of this UW-specific award are honored for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and sportsmanlike attitude.
The freshman walk-on from Middleton, Wisconsin, ended up becoming one of Wisconsin's greatest. He joins six other Badgers who have competed for Cambridge: James Bernard, James Letten, Ben Rumble, Luke Juckett, Steve Dudek, and Derek Rasmussen.Â

4. WHERE TO NEXT – The Badgers will pack their bags and go coast-to-coast for the Lake Morey Invite in Vermont on April 25 and 26.Â
