BOSTON – The Badger men's rowing team kicks off its fall season at the Head of the Charles regatta on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Head Coach Beau Hoopman and Associate Head Coach Greg Myhr will both compete in the Men's Grand Master/Veteran race. The Badgers will also have nearly 50 competitors in the alumni boats.

2. WHERE THEY LEFT OFF – Wisconsin finished at No.16 at the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships. All three Badger boats landed in the top-three of their final race.

The varsity eight and second varsity eight boat collected a third-place finish in the Third-Level Final. The varsity four won its Four-Level Final.

3. LAST YEAR IN CAMBRIDGE – At the 2025 Head of the Charles regatta, Wisconsin placed ninth in the championship four and 28th in the championship eight race. The four boat finished with a time of 16:06.172, while the eight finished at 14:37.09.

4 BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN – Greg Myhr recently returned home to Wisconsin to begin coaching as Associate Head Coach for the men's rowing program. Myhr captained the Badgers before becoming a coach. In his first go-round as a coach for UW, he helped lead Wisconsin to five Ten Eyck Trophies as team points champion at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships. He then spent some time coaching on the East Coast at Georgetown, George Washington, Pennsylvania and St. Joseph's. His most recent coaching position was as head coach at Marietta College for the past seven years. The Wisconsin men's crew is thrilled to have Myhr back with the program.
