High School: Attended Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Wisconsin ... Earned three letters in four year of tennis ... made it to team state in 2024 ... won 2024 junior varsity No. 1 singles tournament ... ran two years of cross country, earning one letter ... earned two letters in swimming, earning most improved as a junior
Personal: Parents are Greg and Kammye Matz ... has two brothers, Jackson and Murphy ... majoring in mechanical engineering
Why Wisconsin? I've lived in a small town almost my whole life, but moving to the big city for college was definitely a welcome change. There's so much to do and explore, and the scenery here is absolutely beautiful. I didn't know too much about the rowing program here before I arrived, but once I found out, I was glad to be attending a university that had such an opportunity
What Wisconsin rowing means to me:Â Being a rower at Madison means so much more than just participating in a sport. I'm being a part of something bigger than myself, and fighting hard alongside people just like me to realize a common goal. I'm bringing honor to my family name by being the first in my bloodline to participate in D1 athletics. And perhaps most importantly, I'm proving to myself each and every day that I'm capable of overcoming hardships to achieve great things.
