Badgers are in Ohio to begin the spring season
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's rowing team's spring schedule starts this weekend when the Badgers travel to Ohio for a regatta against Marietta College on Saturday.
Here are four things to know as the season gets underway.
1. WHAT TO KNOW — For the past three years, the Marietta College Pioneers have hosted the Badgers for a friendly competition on the Muskingum River. The event is currently scheduled for 11:40 a.m. CT (as of Friday Noon CT). Crews from Mercyhurst and Adrian are also expected to race this year.
2. WHERE THEY LEFT OFF — Last year, the varsity eight boat beat the Pioneers by 14 seconds with a time of 5:35.8 over 2000 meters. The varsity four Wisconsin A also raced past Marietta in 6:29:8.
The team got back on Lake Mendota for practice this week and races for the first time since Nov. 3 at the Princeton Chase. UW also trained on the water during its winter training trip in Austin, Texas.
3. WHERE TO NEXT — Wisconsin heads to Redwood Shores, California, for the Stanford/Cal Invite on April 5 and 6 before a visit to Vermont for the Lake Morey Invite on April 26 and 27.Â
