IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Wisconsin women's basketball team (13-16, 4-14 B1G) finished the regular season with an 81-66 loss at Iowa (20-9, 10-8 B1G).
Serah Williams and
Carter McCray each recorded double-doubles, with Williams contributing 18 points and 10 rebounds, and McCray adding 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Badgers shot 43.6% (24-55) from the field, 33.3% (5-15) from three-point range, and 86.7% (13-15) from the free-throw line.
In contrast, the Hawkeyes shot 51.7% (30-58) from the field, 35.0% (7-20) from beyond the arc, and 93.3% (14-15) from the free-throw line.
How It Happened
Williams got the Badgers on the board with a layup and continued to generate offensive momentum adding another two points. Iowa broke away for a short while before Wisconsin closed the gap with a three-pointer from Myers and an and-1 from McCray to take a 21-20 lead at the end of the first quarter. Iowa made a run to start the second quarter, but
Lily Krahn sank a much-needed three-pointer to keep the Badgers in the game. The teams exchanged buckets with Iowa having the advantage until Myers hit a buzzer-beater three to tie the game 36-36 at halftime.
Iowa came out of the break and hit three straight triples to propel them into the lead until Myers hit another three to stop the run. McCray earned back-to-back and-1s to keep it close. However, the Hawkeyes continued to extend their lead and were up by nine to end the third quarter. The Badgers fought back in the final frame but were unable to close the gap ending with a final score of 81-66.
