INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to No. 11 Iowa, 81-54, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Serah Williams led the Badgers with her 15
th 20+ point game of the season, scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds. As a team, Wisconsin shot 38.2% (21-55) from the field, 46.2% (6-13) from beyond the arc and 86.7% (6-9) from the free-throw line.
In contrast, the Hawkeyes shot 57.4% (35-61) from the field and 55.0% (11-20) and 0.0% (0-1) from the free throw line.
How It Happened
Natalie Leuzinger got the Badgers on the board first by sinking a three pointer.
Carter McCray added two by capitalizing off a Hawkeye turnover. However, Iowa quickly turned the game around, going on a run to take an early lead.
Ronnie Porter opened the second quarter with a three-pointer which provided a spark for the Badgers, as they cut into Iowa's lead. The teams exchanged buckets and Williams showed off her defensive skill tallying four blocks in the first half. The Hawkeyes lead 43-23 at the break.
Coming out of the break Wisconsin and Iowa continued to go back and forth. Porter banked her second triple of the game and
Alie Bisballe got in on the action sinking a three late in the quarter. Williams remained strong on defense earning her 5
th block of the night. Wisconsin continued to battle but were unable to bridge the gap ending with a final score of 81-54.
