Wisconsin battles hard in fourth quarter but falls to No. 22 Michigan State

Serah Williams makes history, reaching 200 career blocked shots

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to the No. 22 Michigan State Spartans, 91-71, on Wednesday night in the Breslin Center.

Serah Williams led the Badgers with 23 points, marking her 23rd game this season in double figures and her 12th game with 20 or more points. She also recorded her 12th double-double of the season.

Wisconsin held a 32-26 rebounding edge over the Spartans.

The Badgers shot 49.1% (28-57) from the field, 26.3% (5-19) from beyond the arc, and 66.7% (10-15) from the free-throw line. In contrast, the Spartans shot 59.1% (39-66) from the field, 36.4% (8-22) from three, and 62.5% (5-8) from the charity stripe.

How it Happened
The Badgers started strong, with Ronnie Porter forcing a turnover in the opening minute, leading to a Serah Williams jumper for the first points of the game. Michigan State responded with a 4-0 run before Carter McCray broke the streak. Williams added free throws and another basket to keep Wisconsin close, but the Spartans pulled ahead to lead 26-15 after the first quarter.

Michigan State opened the second quarter with a 9-0 run, but Wisconsin answered back with a 15-2 run, highlighted by back-to-back three-pointers from Lily Krahn and a corner three from Tess Myers. Despite the strong push, the Badgers trailed 43-32 at halftime but held an 18-13 rebounding advantage at the break.

After halftime, Williams continued her dominant performance, scoring the Badgers' first four points of the third quarter. Krahn stayed hot, knocking down her third three-pointer of the night, while Williams secured her 12th game with 20+ points. However, the Spartans remained in control, leading 72-48 heading into the final frame.

Wisconsin found momentum in the fourth quarter, with Williams and McCray both reaching double-digit scoring. Williams also made history on the defensive end, recording her 200th career block, becoming just the second Badger to achieve the milestone, alongside Michelle Lowman. In her homecoming game, Alie Bisballe scored a career-high seven points off of two field goals and three free throws.
