Badgers hit the road for their first test away from home against the Golden Eagles

Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Golden Eagles:
1. A NEW ERA BEGINS:Â Saturday marks the first road game under head coach Robin Pingeton, who takes over after 15 seasons at Missouri. Pingeton brings a proven track record with 10 postseason appearances and multiple WNBA draft picks. She leads a roster anchored by returners Ronnie Porter and Lily Krahn, along with eight newcomers, highlighted by MEAC Player of the Year Destiny Howell.
2. RENEWING THE RIVALRY:Â The Golden Eagles took the last meeting, 88-65, in Milwaukee back in 2017. Saturday's matchup marks the first rivalry game of the Pingeton era and the beginning of a new chapter in the in-state series. The programs will continue the home-and-home arrangement next season, with Wisconsin set to host Marquette in 2026-27.

3. SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:Â The Golden Eagles are led by second-year head coach Cara Consuegra, who holds a 22-11 record with the program.
In their first game of the 2025-26 campaign, Marquette topped Winthrop, 89-57. Jaidynn Mason led the way with 25.0 points per game, while Halle Vice added 11.0 rebounds per contest.
As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 89.0 points per game, shooting 48.4% from the field, 36.7% from three, and 88.9% from the free-throw line.
4. LAST TIME OUT:Â Wisconsin opened the 2025-26 season with a 79-68 win over Oakland on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center, marking head coach Robin Pingeton's first victory as a Badger.
The Badgers shot 50.0% (30-60) from the field, 33.3% (8-24) from three, and 78.6% (11-14) from the free-throw line. Wisconsin also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Oakland 48-31, and recorded nine blocks. Destiny Howell led the way with 17 points, with three other Badgers earning double-digit scoring.
Dorja Zaja made history in her debut, recording 6 blocks -Â tied for 2nd-most in Kohl Center history, the 4th-most by a Badger freshman, and the most ever by a freshman in their debut.
5. LOOKING AHEAD: The Badgers return to the Kohl Center on Nov. 10 to host Milwaukee at 6:30 p.m. (CT). The game can be streamed on B1G+ or heard on 1070 The Game and the iHeartRadio app.
