No. 11 Wisconsin looks to punch its ticket to the NCAA championships on Friday
2018 NCAA Great Lakes Regional
Friday, Nov. 9 | 10:15 a.m. — Terre Haute, Ind.
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 11 Wisconsin women's cross country team heads to Terre Haute, Indiana to compete in the 2018 NCAA Great Lakes Regionals. The meet will take place at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course and is slated to begin with the women's championship 6K race at 10:15 a.m. CT with the men's championship 10K race to follow at 11:15 a.m.Â

1. MIGHTY MONSON: Alicia Monson is FloTrack's only ranked runner set to compete in the Regional meet. She sits at third in the nation right now, just behind New Mexico's Weini Kelati and Ednah Kurgat. Monson is coming off of a Big Ten Individual Conference Championship win in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is the first Badger to win a conference title since Bethany Brewster in 2001.Â
2. FRESHMAN STEPPING UP: True freshman Lucinda Crouch continued her impressive rookie season at the 2018 Big Ten Cross Country Championships. Crouch, the Brisbane, Australia native, was the third Badger across the line and took 21st place at the meet. Â
3. LAST YEAR AT THE REGIONAL: The Badgers finished third at the 2017 NCAA Great Lakes Regional, which wasa also held in Terre Haute, Indiana. UW recorded 93 points, just six points behind runner-up Michigan State while Michigan won the team title with 71 points. The UW trio of Sarah Disanza, Amy Davis and Shaelyn Sorensen all earned top-15 finishes at the regional championship.
4. STRAIGHT FROM COACH MILLER:Â "The obvious goal for us at the Great Lakes Regional Championship is to earn a bid to compete as a team at the NCAA Championship here at home next Saturday. We are excited to gain more experience from competing in such a deep region with 5 of the top 20 ranked teams in the country. "
5. NEXT IS NCAA'S: The Badgers will look to punch their ticket to the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships this weekend as the top two teams at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional will automatically qualify for the national meet. Featuring the top Division I teams from across the nation, the NCAA Championships will take place on home turf at the Zimmer Championship Course on November 17 and are scheduled to begin with the women's championship 6K race at 10:45 a.m. (CT) with the men's championship 10K race to follow at 11:45 a.m. (CT).Â
