
Five things to know: The Badgers come home to host the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Badgers will host the 17th annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour this Friday, Oct. 9, at the Zimmer Championship Course. The women's "A" race is set to start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's "B" race following at 11:50 a.m.
For those attending, there is no spectator parking at the cross country course or University Ridge. Spectator parking will be located at Reddan Soccer Park.

1. LAST NUTTYCOMBE: The Badgers finished 11th with 345 points last year. Leane Willemse led the Cardinal and White with a strong 34th-place finish. NC State won the Nuttycombe Invitational with 41 points, followed by Notre Dame with 125 points and Iowa State with 176 points.
2. MAJOR COMPETITION: Of the 34 teams attending Nuttycombe this year, 17 of them are nationally ranked. Major competitors, including No. 3 Northern Arizona, No. 4 New Mexico and No. 5 Iowa State, are all set to compete.
3. FAST FRESHMEN: Freshmen Emmerson Drobac and Ella Anschutz both scored points for the Badgers two weeks ago in Chicago. Drobac crossed the line in 20:34.84 to finish in 74th, and Anschutz scored her first points for Wisconsin, finishing in 95th.
4. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Two weeks ago, Wisconsin traveled to Chicago to compete in the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. Senior Mikaela Helling led the Badgers, finishing in 58th to help UW secure a 15th place finish.
5. UP NEXT: In three weeks, the Cardinal and White will stay home to start the postseason competition with the Big Ten Championships. Wisconsin last hosted the Big Ten Championships in 2023, where the women finished in 2nd with 81 points. The women's 6-kilometer race is set to start at 10:35 a.m. with the men's 8-kilometer race to begin at 11:35 a.m.
