In-state intensity: Badgers fight to 0-0 draw with Panthers

Wisconsin fires off five shots on goal in tough match

MILWAUKEE – In what was true to a derby match, the Wisconsin men's soccer team battled in-state rival Milwaukee to a 0-0 double-overtime drawĀ at Engelmann Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Badgers (7-4-4 overall) and Panthers (8-5-3) fought through 110 minutes and played pretty evenly as UW trailed shots 15-12 and shots on goal 7-5.

Shortly into double overtime, Milwaukee native Isaac Schlenker sent a strike that went just high, giving UW one of its best chances in extra time.

Midfielder Mike Catalano gave the Milwaukee goalkeeper trouble all night, firing in three shots on goal and leading the Badgers with four total shots. Tom Barlow, Noah Leibold, Alejandro Estrelles Hernanz and Schlenker each had two shots. Schlenker accounted for the other two shots on goal for Wisconsin.

Senior goalkeeper Philipp Schilling passed all of his tests with flying colors, stopping seven Milwaukee shots on goal. He clinched his fourth shutout of the season.

Wisconsin dominated Milwaukee in corner kicks, earning nine to UM's four.

Notes to Know:
-The Badgers have gone to overtime six times this season and are 1-1-4 in those games. UW has gone into overtime in three of its lastĀ four matches.
-UW leads the all-time series with Milwaukee, 19-13-8 and have gone 8-1-4 in their last 13 matchups.
-Estrelles Hernanz made his first career start for the Badgers and notched two shots.
