MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin capped off its doubleheader sweep against North Dakota with a 6-2 victory in their second game at Goodman Diamond Wednesday afternoon. Junior catcher Dana Rasmussen broke a two-two tie in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run home run, the first homer of her career.

Freshman Whitney Massey led off the bottom of the sixth with a single. Letty Olivarez then struck out swinging, bringing Kendall Grimm up to bat. Grimm smacked a grounder to the Sioux shortstop who dropped the ball, allowing Grimm to reach on an error and to advancing Massey to second. Rasmussen then stepped up to the plate, slamming it over the left field wall, making it 5-2, Wisconsin.

The scoring for the Badgers did not end there as they increased their lead with one more run. After a strikeout by Abby Gregory, senior Katie Soderberg nailed her second triple of the game to center field. Krueger then hit an infield single, sending Soderberg home for UW's sixth and final run.

Mirroring the teams' first match up, the Sioux and the Badgers scored one run apiece in the first inning.

Trailing 1-0, Soderberg led the inning off for Wisconsin with a stand-up triple. UND pitcher Michelle Frank then retired two Badgers, but Shannel Blackshear sent Soderberg home with an infield RBI single.

The second and third innings passed scoreless, but the Sioux tallied one more run in the top of the fourth.

The Badgers worked themselves out of a jam in the top of the fifth. North Dakota's Casie Hansen hit a double to deep center, putting Sioux runners at second and third. Cami Bennett then had a solid infield hit it as Kenna Olsen ran home, but Whitney Massey fielded the hit perfectly, throwing out the potential run at the plate.

After the Fighting Sioux took a 2-1 lead after the fourth, the Badgers tied the game at two in the bottom of the fifth.

Abby Gregory led off the fifth for the Badgers with a base hit, and then advanced on a wild pitch with Soderberg at the plate. Soderberg grounded out, but Gregory advanced to third on the play. Jennifer Krueger hit a chopper straight to the Sioux second baseman who mishandled the hit. Gregory ran home on the error and Krueger reached second on the Sioux throw home to tie the game.

Freshman Meghan Mcintosh threw a career-high seven innings as she got the complete-game win. The Sierra Vista, Ariz., native matched her career high with five strikeouts, while giving up seven hits and just two walks.

The Badgers are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a road contest at No. 25 Notre Dame. First pitch is at 3 p.m. (CT).
