Beduhn, Fullerton, Nissen and Olsson will see first fall action
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's tennis program continues its fall season at the Fighting Irish Mini Duals on Friday, Sept. 25, to Sunday, Sept. 27.
Before the Badgers hit the road, here are five things to know:
1. FOLLOW ALONG
Seniors Collin Beduhn, Matthew Fullerton, Oliver Olsson will all see the court for the first time this fall, with freshman Jens Holger Nissen making his collegiate debut. 2. BREAKING DOWN THE DUALS
The Fighting Irish tournament will feature players competing in pairs, engaging in a mini dual-match format that begins with a doubles set followed by two single matches. Teams must win two of the three matches in order to advance to the next round.
3. WEEKEND RECAP
Four Badgers wrapped up last weekend at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tomas Zlatohlavek, Ferdinand Kloesters and Patrik Meszaros highlighted the weekend in singles play, each posting a 1-1 record through pre-qualifying rounds to kick off the fall season.
In doubles play, the junior pairing in Kloesters and Meszaros clipped a 1-1 record after defeating their Arkansas opponents in the first round of prequalifying doubles before falling to Georgia's Guglieri and Arsic in the second round. Georgia's Guglieri and Arsic pairing sat at No. 86 in the ITA preseason poll.
4. UP NEXT
After competing at the Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Indiana, the Badgers will cross Lake Michigan to participate in the Michigan State Invite at Hope College. Competition is set to begin on Friday, Oct. 2.
