
Badgers finish ninth at John McNichols Invitational

Livingstone leads the way for Badgers in first road test of the season
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Led by senior Johnny Livingstone, the No. 10 Wisconsin men's cross country team took ninth at the John McNichols Invitational at the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
Livingstone finished 11th in his season debut, covering the 8K course in 23 minutes, 59.4 seconds, to lead Wisconsin to its ninth-place finish with 267 points.
Senior Christian de Vaal (24:25.1) and freshman Grady Lenn (24:26.1) were the next finishers, placing 42nd and 45th, respectively. Liam Newhart (24:43.1) placed 78th, and Nick Gilles (24:54.5) moved up 44 places in the final 3K to finish 92nd overall.
The Badgers' ninth-place finish was enough to beat some of the nation's top teams, including Eastern Kentucky, ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll, No. 16 Butler and No. 19 Harvard.
Up Next: The Badgers will head to Chicago for the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, hosted by Loyola, on Friday, Sept. 25.
