Badgers storm back to defeat Ramblers
April 08, 2026 | Softball
UW plates seven unanswered runs in non-conference battle
Junior Hilary Blomberg, who tallied her 150th career hit earlier in the game, barreled a sacrifice fly to the outfield to break the 6-6 tie and give the Badgers (22-12, 7-5 B1G) their first lead of the game. Wisconsin put together another six-run comeback, as they most recently did so against Purdue this past Saturday in a 10-9 victory.Â
The Ramblers (17-19, 9-3 A10) jumped out to a quick start by scoring a run in the first against freshman Berritt Herr. Loyola Chicago continued to battle at the plate, stringing together quality at bats throughout the early showing—tallying 11 hits through the first five innings of play.Â
Between the third and fourth frame, the Ramblers posted a pair of crooked numbers to expand their advantage to 6-0.Â
In the fifth, the Badgers got on the board with a sacrifice fly from sophomore Hannah Conger. UW continued to rally in the frame, as senior Emily Bojan extended her on-base streak to 34 games with an RBI single to cut into the deficit.Â
After a shutout inning turned in by senior Shelby Jacobson, Wisconsin maintained the momentum with the bats in the bottom half of the sixth. Redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter continued to produce at the plate, launching a solo blast to the opposite field—marking her third home run in four games to make it 6-3 Ramblers.Â
The Badgers took advantage of a couple of defensive miscues turned in by Loyola Chicago, as freshman Addison Wery and sophomore Hannah Conger capitalized with RBI singles to cut it to 6-5. Bojan then floated a pitch to the outfield, as a run came across on an error to tie it up for the first time all night.Â
Blomberg's sacrifice fly gave the Badgers the advantage, as the unit never looked back—improving to 4-0 at Goodman Diamond this year.Â
