No. 7/5 Nebraska hands UW first home loss

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin softball team fell at Goodman Diamond for the first time this season, as No. 7/5 Nebraska took game one of the series with a 5-0 victory on Friday night.

After the Cornhuskers (31-6, 12-1 B1G) escaped a couple of early jams on the defensive end, their offense capitalized quickly with a run in the third inning, sparked by a triple from two-way standout Jordy Frahm.

Nebraska added on four runs in three of the next four innings, highlighted by a solo home run from Jesse Farrell.

Senior Shelby Jacobson tossed all seven innings for the Badgers (22-13, 7-6 B1G), striking out six batters while allowing seven hits and four walks.

Nebraska's Alexis Jensen worked around a walk from freshman Addison Wery in the seventh, recording her 11th strikeout of the evening to secure her 16th win of the year—shutting out Wisconsin to seal game one of the series.

Batting Cleanup:

Wisconsin struck out 11 times on Friday night, a season-high.
Nebraska has won five straight games at Goodman Diamond.
Emily Bojan has reached base in every game this season, extending her on-base streak to 35. The Chicago native still ranks at No. 2 all-time in program history.
Hilary Blomberg added to her on-base streak in a 1-for-3 performance, which sits at 20 games. The junior now holds the seventh-longest streak in program history.

Up Next: The Badgers and the Cornhuskers will get set for game two of the series tomorrow afternoon, as first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on B1G+.
