MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin softball team is back on the road this weekend, set to take on Penn State in a three-game series in State College, Pennsylvania—beginning on Friday, March 20.Â
The series opener is slated for 4:00 p.m. CT in Happy Valley, while Saturday's game will get underway at 1:00 p.m. CT. The third battle of the weekend is scheduled for Sunday, as first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT. Each game will stream on B1G+, as fans can also follow along with live stats posted on uwbadgers.com.Â
The Badgers (14-10, 0-3 B1G) and the Nittany Lions (19-9, 0-3 B1G) will each seek their first Big Ten victory of the season this weekend, as both were handed sweeps by west coast foes over the past two weeks. The two teams will meet for the first time since 2024, as Penn State leads the all-time series over Wisconsin at 32-26—winning three of the last four games.Â
UW fell in three consecutive games to No. 8/7 UCLA two weekends ago. Despite the trio of losses, Wisconsin's offense continued to excel at the plate—entering the week with a top-30 team batting average in the country at .344.Â
Senior Emily Bojan has been the table-setter for the entirety of the season, as the Chicago native enters State College having reached base in every game—extending her on-base streak to 24 behind a team-best .522 OBP. Bojan currently holds the fourth-longest streak in program history and the second-longest to kick off a season, doing all of her damage from the leadoff spot.Â
The top half of the order has benefited, highlighted by a strong showing from sophomore Kendra Lewis. In the five games out west before the Badgers' bye week, Lewis finished 8-for-15 (.533 BA) with three walks, a double and a pair of RBI. The left-handed hitter leads the team in batting average at .437.Â
Junior Hilary Blomberg hit the 26th home run of her career against UCLA, advancing to fourth all-time in UW history for most HRs in a career. Fellow teammate Alivia Bark joined Blomberg as a steady run producer, tallying her ninth multi-RBI game of the year in the series finale versus the Bruins. Bark only needs two more multi-RBI games to enter the top-10 of UW's record book for most in a single season.Â
Outfielder Danielle Lucey is the third Badger traveling to State College with a batting average over .400, as she tallied three or more hits for the third time this season in her last outing against UCLA. The Cottage Grove native has racked up 28 hits in 69 at bats—boasting an 1.027 OPS from the middle of the lineup while providing consistent defense in center field.Â
Up Next: The Badgers will play at home for the first time this season beginning on Friday, March 27, when they welcome Maryland to Goodman Diamond for a three-game Big Ten series. Friday's game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network. Fans can find more information on tickets, HERE.
