Here are five things to know about the series
1. GOPHER SPLIT
The Badgers faced the No. 3 Minnesota Gophers last weekend, splitting the series, but coming away with the majority of points.
Game one featured a goal each from Lacey Eden and Finley McCarthy. UW fought until the very end, but the game went into overtime, and the Gophers claimed the extra point, resulting in a 3-2 loss for the Badgers.
Wisconsin came back the next day to achieve a 6-1 win against Minnesota. In the second game of the series, Cassie Hall quickly scored the first goal of the series on her way to a hat trick. Senior Vivian Jungels added two more before sophomore Maggie Scannell tallied the Badgers’ final goal of the game.
Over the weekend, freshman goaltender Rhyah Stewart made 48 saves across 120 minutes of play.
2. WCHA STARS
After a five goal performance amongst the two Badgers last weekend, Cassie Hall and Vivian Jungels were awarded WCHA distinctions.
Hall collected her second career hat-trick against the Gophers during Saturday’s game. The junior previously had four goals against Lindenwood in September of her freshman year.
This is Hall’s first time winning WCHA Forward of the Week in her career. In her past two seasons as a Badger, Hall has nine multi-goal games.
Jungels was given the WCHA Defender of the Week honor after her two goals on Saturday. In Jungels’ four years as a Badger, this is her first multi-goal game.
The defender has garnered four goals and 10 assists in her final season at UW. Jungels previously won the award on Feb. 10, 2025, where she also put up two goals and one assist in a series against the Gophers.
3. AGAINST THE BUCKEYES
Wisconsin last met the Buckeyes at the Ohio State Ice Arena on Dec. 5 and 6. The Badgers swept the series with 2-1 and 6-1 wins over the Buckeyes - the first Badger sweep in Columbus since October of 2019.
In both games, Caroline Harvey had a breakaway goal that added to UW’s total. Freshman Adéla Šapovalivová scored in game one, her first time ever facing Ohio State
Before the December matchup, UW last met Ohio State in the 2024-25 NCAA National Championship game, where the Badgers took home the title with a 4-3 OT win.
Overall, Wisconsin is 84-26-11 with the Buckeyes.

4. WHAT'S UP WITH BUCK
The Buckeyes have had a great season so far, being 25-3-0 as of Jan. 31, where they swept No. 10 Minnesota Duluth.
The No. 2 Ohio State women’s hockey team has had strong conference wins against Bemidji State, Minnesota, St. Cloud, St. Thomas and Minnesota State.
The Buckeye squad’s three losses have been to Wisconsin twice and once to No. 3 Minnesota. In Ohio State’s second game against the Gophers, the Buckeyes lost 6-3.
5. MEANWHILE IN MILAN…
The Olympic Games began Feb. 5 for the 12 Badger Olympians at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
