The junior named Big Ten Women’s Swimmer of the Week
MADISON, Wis. — Maggie Wanezek of the Wisconsin women's swim and dive team has been named Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week following her performance against Notre Dame, the conference announced Wednesday.
The junior set a new pool record in the 100 yard backstroke (50.30) on Saturday with three first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:37.25), 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke (1:50.94). Her performances helped the team in winning the meet 202 points to 95 over the Fighting Irish.
Wanezek was also named to the 2026-27 US National Team and the Big Ten Swimmers to Watchlist earlier this year. This comes after her second-place finishes in the 50 back, 100 back and 200 back at the 2026 Toyota USA Swimming National Championships this past summer as well as finishing runner-up in the 100 back and 200 back at the 2026 NCAA Championships in March.
Up next, the Badgers will host Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m.
