Team Black wins intrasquad with 617 points
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 14 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team opened their 2026-27 season at home with a high-spirited intrasquad meet. Team Black took the win, 617–596, over Team Red.
TEAM BLACK
Senior Maddie Waggoner and sophomore Sarah Larsen started Team Black off strong, earning first (5:48.37) and second-place (5:54.48) in the 600 freestyle. The pair also placed first (3:48.60) and third (3:54.97) in the 400 freestyle.
Brooke Corrigan won the 150 breaststroke (1:34.18) and the 50 breaststroke (27.98) for the team.
Off the boards, Julia Herring, Vivian Kinnard and Zara Karimi earned second (140.70), third (131.40) and fourth-place (129.37) respectively in the one meter.
TEAM RED
Maggie Wanezek earned the team a handful of first-place finishes, winning the 150 backstroke (1:20.00), 50 backstroke (23.78) and 200 freestyle (1:45.57).
Hailey Tierney placed first in the 50 freestyle. She also earned third-place in the 150 freestyle.
Freshman Ainsley Stephan made her Badger debut winning the 150 butterfly and the 50 butterfly. She placed 11th in the final 200 freestyle.
Divers Ryane Neal and Maggie Lapina placed first and fifth in the one meter.
The meet concluded with a full-team 200 freestyle. For Team Red, Wanezek earned first-place (1:45.57) and sophomore Andrea Dworak third (1:49.26). Isabelle Enz of Team Black placed second (1:46.85).
