No. 14 Wisconsin to host the Leprechauns
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 14 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team will host Notre Dame for their first official meet of the year on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. The Badgers held a high-spirited intrasquad meet on Sept. 25.
As the team gets ready to dive into competition, here are five things to know:
1. TOGETHER WE SWIM: PINK OUT
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At this week's meet, the Badgers will wear pink and spectators are encouraged to join in the pink out theme. Following competition, fans are welcome to stay for a 2026-27 schedule poster giveaway with autographs while supplies last.
There is strength in community and no one fights alone. Together we swim.
2. WHERE THE BADGERS RANK
Entering the 2026-27 season, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America ranked the Wisconsin women's swim and dive team No. 14 overall. This is an improvement from last year's pre-season poll, where the team ranked No. 15.

3. THE BIG TEN WATCH LIST
The Big Ten conference named senior diver Ryane Neal and junior swimmer Maggie Wanezek to the list of athletes to watch this season.
In her fourth season with the Badgers, Neal is a key returner on the team. She qualified for the 2026 NCAA Zones where she placed 16th (458.80 pts). At the 2026 Big Ten Championships, Neal earned 14th-place (210.85 pts) on the platform.
Wanezek was selected to the 2026-27 US National Swim Team in addition to her place on the Big Ten Watch List. Last season, she placed second in the 100 back (49.62) and 200 back (1:47.73) as well as setting personal records in the events at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Wanezek won the 200 back (1:48.94) at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and set a conference meet record.
4. NEW ADDITION TO THE STAFF
To begin the 2026-27 season, head coach Jack Brown has added a new member to his staff, Jan Lanser as a diving coaching assistant. Lanser joins Andrew Capobianco in overseeing the dive team.
A 2026 graduate, Lanser competed four seasons on the Wisconsin men's diving team. In 2025, he qualified for the 2025 NCAA Zones and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
"Jan also brings a unique energy and enthusiasm to the pool deck that I know will elevate our team moving forward," said Capobianco.
5. LOOKING AHEAD
Following the competition against Notre Dame, the Badgers will continue their homestand with a meet against Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 6.
