Five Things to Know: No. 7 Badgers Travel to Chicago for Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational

UW races its third race of the season, hosted by Loyola Chicago
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 7 Wisconsin men's cross country team returns to action Friday at the 46th Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago. The Men's Championship 8K will start at 9:40 a.m., while the Men's 8K Open is set to begin at 11 a.m.

1. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Badgers are back in action for their second race away from Madison, the third race of the season. UW won the Badger Classic last month in Madison as they swept the top-5 spots.
2. IN THE RANKS: The No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers head to Chicago to face Big Ten rival Washington, ranked No. 24 nationally in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll and No. 4 within the conference. Other ranked teams include North Carolina at No. 16
3. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers earned a perfect score of 15 points at the Badger Classic. Junior Micah Wilson led the Badgers with a win, crossing the line in 25 minutes, 19.9 seconds. Liam Newhart, Bryce Stachewicz, Johnny Livingstone and Nick Gilless rounded out the top-5 spots on the leaderboard.
4. A LOOK BACK: Four-time Big Ten Champion Bob Liking led the Badgers to a win at the 45th Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, finishing seventh in his season debut with a time of 22 minutes, 59.02 seconds. This win marked Wisconsin's third team title of the 2024 season.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will host the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour, on Friday, Oct. 17. 20 of the top-25 teams in the country will be in action in the prestigious competition at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Action begins at 10:30 AM.
