MADISON, Wis - The Wisconsin rowing program will complete the Connor's Erg challenge to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain cancer.
The challenge takes place over the entire month of February, but the Badgers will be participating on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 4 pm. The team will relay a 100km race across five ergs with multiple athletes. Other Big Ten conference schools, such as the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, and UCLA, will also be participating.
The Connor's Erg challenge was created in honor of Robert "Connor" Dawes, who lost his battle with brain cancer while working to pursue a career in collegiate rowing. Dawes had applied to Wisconsin and was looking forward to possibly joining the team.
Connor is a Wisconsin native, but grew up in Australia. Connor's mother, Liz, is a former Badger who stood by his side during his 16-month fight.
