Legacy of longtime fan will be honored at the game against Ohio State
MADISON, Wis. – Phil Dzick's legacy, or 'Phil' as he was known to Wisconsin fans since he began leading cheers at Badger hockey games in the 1980s, will be honored during UW's Nov. 15 contest against Ohio State at the Kohl Center. The game begins at 6 p.m.
The evening's recognition will include a ceremonial puck drop by his widow and longtime fellow Badger supporter Mary Lou.
It will also include numbers for Phil's signature "1, 2, 3, We Want More!" chant spread around the Kohl Center for fans to take part in post-Badger goal celebrations.
A 1969 University of Wisconsin graduate, Phil visibly supported Badger athletics, most commonly men's hockey, football, women's hockey and volleyball. He passed away on Oct. 22 at the age of 81.
The 10th-ranked and unbeaten Badgers visit No. 2 Michigan this Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m., before returning home next week for their last home series until January.
