Wisconsin head to #2 Indiana on Saturday

The gift that is the Wisconsin football team’s intensely challenging schedule continues to churn up nuggets of unprecedented events.
When UW faces second-ranked Indiana in a Big Ten Conference game on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind., it will mark the first time the Badgers will play four straight regular-season games against ranked opponents. Top-ranked Ohio State, No. 6 Oregon and No. 23 Washington will give way to a date with the Hoosiers.
It will also be the first time Wisconsin (3-6 overall, 1-5 in league play) will play four road games versus ranked opponents in a single season: No. 19 Alabama, No. 20 Michigan and Oregon all predated this trip to Indiana (10-0, 7-0).
In 2016, UW played four ranked teams away from Camp Randall Stadium, but one was vs. No. 5 LSU at Lambeau Field in Green Bay and one was opposite No. 8 Penn State in the Big Ten title game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
In 1997, UW closed the season with four straight ranked opponents – No. 12 Iowa, No. 1 Michigan and No. 14 Penn State – but the final assignment came in the Outback Bowl opposite No. 11 Georgia.
This meeting with Indiana will be a program-record sixth ranked opponent Wisconsin has faced this season.
Here are five more things to know:

MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS
The last time the Badgers played both the No. 1 and 2 ranked teams during the regular season was in 1975 when they faced No. 2 Michigan and top-ranked Ohio State. In 1973, UW played No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Nebraska. For the record, the Badgers played top-ranked Northwestern during the regular season and No. 1 USC in the Rose Bowl to close out the 1962 season.

YOUTH BE SERVED
According to the latest depth chart, the Badgers have 10 redshirt freshmen and six true freshmen in the two-deep. That includes a possible starter at quarterback in true freshman Carter Smith, two starters on the offensive line in RS freshman right guard Colin Cubberly and RS freshman right tackle in Emerson Mandell, the starter at running back in RS freshman Gideon Ituka and two starting inside linebackers in true freshmen Cooper Catalano and Mason Posa.

SELECT COMPANY
Since being named a starter, Posa has registered double-figure tackles vs. Oregon (13) and Washington (11). The last true freshman linebacker to have multiple double-figure outings for the Badgers was Chris Borland in 2009.

FOUR OF A KIND
UW is the lone Big Ten team to have four different quarterbacks attempt at least 10 passes this season. West Virginia, 4-6 overall of the Big 12, is the only other Power 4 school to have dealt with this scenario.

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH
The combined record of Wisconsin’s opponents to date is 54-27 (.667). Seven of the nine foes have winning records overall (Alabama 8-1, Miami (OH) 5-4, Michigan 7-2, Iowa 6-3, Ohio State 9-0, Oregon 8-1, Washington 6-3).
