Wisconsin continues its early-season slate with a road dual against the Bobcats
ATHENS, Ohio - Wisconsin wrestling hits the road this Saturday for a dual against Ohio at the Convocation Center at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The matchup marks the Badgers' second dual of the season as they look to build on a strong performance at last weekend's Cyclone Invitational.
1. The Last Time OutÂ
Wisconsin had a strong showing at the Cyclone Invitational in Ames, with six Badgers earning podium finishes. Nicolar Rivera captured the 125-pound title with a dominant run that included a 17-2 tech fall and a 5-1 win in the finals. Zan Fugitt followed with a title at 133, earning three major decisions on the day. Luke Mechler finished runner-up at 157 after recording a pin and a major decision, while Cody Goebel also took second at 165. Luke Condon placed second at 174, and Cale Anderson rounded out the group with a third-place finish at 184.
2. Scouting the BobcatsÂ
Ohio opened the 2025-26 season with a strong 44-2 win over Morgan State at the Ohio Showcase in Athens. The Bobcats showed balance across the lineup, led by dominant performances from veterans Sal Perrine and Zayne Lehman, along with early wins from freshmen Brayden Teunissen and Konner Lambers.
