Badgers extend five year win streak against the Golden Gophers
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The No. 24 Wisconsin women's soccer team powered past Minnesota with a 3–0 shutout on Saturday night.
How it Happened
First Half
Wisconsin came out dominate and opened scoring in the 9th minute with Adee Boer finding the back of the net off an assist from Jenna Baumann.
The Badgers added to their lead in the 18th minute with a goal from Brooke Allen and an assist from Madison Ishaug.
With time ticking down before half the Badgers were able to add one more in the 37th minute when Delaney Cox shot it right over the goalie's head with help from Taylor Gordon.
The Badgers took a 3-0 lead into the half and controlled the stat sheet out shooting the Golden Gophers 14–4, including a 7–2 edge in shots on goal and a 2–1 advantage in corner kicks.
Second Half
The Badgers defensive stepped up in the second half to keep Wisconsin in the lead. Drew Stover recorded five saves to secure her sixth clean sheet of the season.
The Badgers stayed in control, finishing the match ahead in shots (19–11), shots on goal (9–5), and corners (5–3).
With the win, Wisconsin continued its unbeaten run against Minnesota, last dropping a match to the Gophers back in 2013.
