Badgers unable to find equalizer
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Wisconsin women's soccer (7-4-3, 3-3-2 B1G) fell to No. 21 Michigan (6-4-3, 4-4-0 B1G), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at U-M Soccer Stadium.
How It Happened
Wisconsin created an early opportunity in the third minute when Jane Rogers sent a shot wide of the net. Erin Connolly followed with a pair of attempts, including a shot on goal in the 22nd minute that was saved by Michigan goalkeeper Malia Zillman.
Michigan broke through in the 31st minute when Lilley Bosley scored off assists from Ella Jablinskey and Luciana Latino, giving the Wolverines a 1-0 advantage.
The Badgers looked to respond before halftime as Taylor Gordon put a shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but Zillman made the save to preserve Michigan's lead.
Second Half:
Wisconsin continued to apply pressure in the second half. Rogers forced a save in the 53rd minute before KK Panella and Margaret Sisk each recorded shots on goal in the 61st and 66th minutes, respectively.
Anya Gulbrandsen created another opportunity in the 85th minute, but her shot was saved by Zillman.
Wisconsin was unable to find the equalizer, falling 1-0. The Badgers finished with nine shots, including six on goal and Drew Stover recorded six saves.
