Badgers look to bounce back
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women's soccer (7-3-3, 3-2-2 Big Ten) heads to Ann Arbor on Sunday, Oct. 11, to face No. 21 Michigan (5-4-3, 3-4-0 Big Ten). Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT at U-M Soccer Stadium.
1. History with Michigan
Wisconsin leads the all-time series against Michigan, 15-13-7, according to the Wisconsin women's soccer record book. The Badgers hold a 4-6-6 record in Ann Arbor and a 10-4-1 advantage when playing in Madison.
The two programs last met on Oct. 27, 2024, when Wisconsin earned a 1-0 victory at McClimon Soccer Complex. The Badgers are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Michigan, posting a 3-0-1 record dating back to 2019.
Wisconsin last traveled to Ann Arbor on Sept. 26, 2021, when the teams played to a 0-0 draw. The Badgers' most recent road victory over the Wolverines came during the 2020-21 season, when Wisconsin secured a 1-0 win on March 1, 2021.
2. Know the Wolverines
Michigan enters Sunday's match up with a 5-4-3 overall record and a 3-4-0 mark in Big Ten play.
The Wolverines are coming off a 6-5 loss at Purdue on Thursday. Michigan trailed 4-0 at halftime before scoring five second-half goals. Ella Jablinskey and Lilley Bosley each recorded two goals, while Elle Ervin added a penalty-kick goal.
Michigan has also earned notable conference victories this season, including a 3-1 road win over then-No. 1 Michigan State and a 3-2 victory at Indiana.
3. Badgers on the Road
Wisconsin has posted a 3-1-2 record away from McClimon Soccer Complex this season.
The Badgers have earned road victories over Milwaukee, Central Michigan and Maryland while recording scoreless draws at Illinois and Nebraska. Wisconsin's lone road loss came against Rutgers on Sept. 27.
Sunday marks Wisconsin's seventh road contest of the season.
4. Last Time Out
Wisconsin fell to Ohio State, 3-2, on Thursday night at McClimon Soccer Complex.
Freshman Jane Rogers opened the scoring in the 17th minute with her third goal of the season. Ohio State responded with three unanswered goals before Taylor Gordon cut the deficit to one in the 86th minute.
Gordon's goal was her third of the season, with Kiara Gilmore recording the assist. The Badgers were unable to find the equalizer in the closing minutes.
