MADISON, Wis. – The No. 29 Wisconsin Badgers will host the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour this Friday Oct. 17 at the Zimmer Championship Course. The women's "B" race is set to start at 10:30 a.m. with the men's "B" race following at 11:10 a.m. The women's championship races will start at 11:50 a.m. and the men will start at 12:30 p.m.
There is no spectator parking at the cross country course or University Ridge. Spectator parking will be located at Reddan Soccer Park (6874 Cross Country Rd. Verona, WI 53593). The park is located in northern Verona off Cross Country Road. A map of the parking layout is available here. Spectator shuttles are available for transportation to the course. The shuttle service begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes one hour after the final race has finished. Fans are encouraged to arrive early so you don't miss any of the action! Parking is not allowed on County Highway PD or County Highway M near the Zimmer Course.
1. LAST NUTTYCOMBE: The Badgers finished in fifth last year with 182 points, with five Badgers placing. Washington won the invitational with 110 points, followed by Utah, Georgetown and Providence. Three current Badgers raced in the last Nuttycombe Invitational, Bella Jacobsen with a time of 21:09.5, Leane Willemse, 21:20.7 and Kylie Finger covering the course in 21:14.1. Of the top ten team finishers at last year's Nuttycombe, nine, including the Badgers, will be in attendance.
2. LAST RUN: Last race, the Badgers finished in 11th place at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational with 262 points. Leane Willemse crossed the line first for UW in the championship race, covering the 6K course in 20:16.9. Four Badgers competed in the open race as sophomore Sara Mlodik won the race with a time of 20:57.6
3. BIG COMPETITORS: Of the 31 teams attending the Nuttycombe Invitational, 19 are ranked and six are within the top ten. The Badgers check in at No. 29 and sixth in the Big Ten.
4. NEW ON THE BLOCK: Senior Annelies Quinton made her Badger debut at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, finishing in 47th place. She turned in a time of 20:42.3 at the 6K, .2 away from her 6K personal best while running for Harvard at the 2024 Paul Short race.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will head to East Lansing, Michigan for the Big Ten Championships on Friday Oct. 31.
