No. 1 Badgers drop 2-1 heartbreaker at No. 2 Ohio State

Hall scores lone goal for UW in overtime setback

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker at No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday afternoon at the OSU Ice Rink.

Cassie Hall scored the lone goal for the Badgers (12-2-0, 8-1-0-0-1-0 WCHA) as UW was able to salvage a league point against the Buckeyes (11-1-0, 9-0-0-2-0-0 WCHA). 

The Buckeyes grabbed the lead early in the first period and continued to control play as they outshot the Badgers 12-4. 

Hall scored the equalizer early in the second period as she found an opening in the five-hole. 

The Badgers controlled play in the third, outshooting OSU 11-9, but neither team was able to break the deadlock. 

Ohio State scored 1:17 into overtime to claim the victory between the top-two teams in the country. 

Three Notes of the Game
- Hall scored her eighth goal of the season and her first goal since Oct. 21 against Bemidji State. 
- Freshman Ava McNaughton stopped 32 of the shots she faced in net. 
- Saturday marked UW's first overtime contest of the season. 

Up Next: Following a bye over Thanksgiving weekend, the Badgers will return to action on Dec. 2 and 3 against UMD. Both games are sold out but fans can watch the action live on Big Ten Plus.
