Badgers fall to Northwestern on Theresa Huff Day

Wildcats top Badgers, 70-67

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin (7-15, 2-7 B1G) had four players score in double figures, but it was not enough as the Badgers fell to Northwestern (8-13, 1-9 B1G), 70-67 on Sunday afternoon at the Kohl Center.

The afternoon was highlighted by Theresa Huff, whose No. 21 jersey became the first women's basketball player in program history to be raised into the rafters of the Kohl Center.

Additionally, a season-high of 8,217 fans came out to support the Badgers as part of National Girls & Women in Sports Day.

Serah Williams scored in double figures for her fifth game in a row, as she led the team with 21 points (8-13 FG) and grabbed seven rebounds. Brooke Schramek added 12 points and seven boards. Avery LaBarbera and Maty Wilke both scored 11 apiece, and LaBarbera secured a team-high nine rebounds.

The first quarter was highlighted by a 13-0 run from the Badgers, followed by a 10-0 run from Northwestern. The Badgers pulled ahead in the second quarter, and took a 39-26 lead heading into halftime.

Northwestern opened up the third quarter with a 17-0 run. The Badgers answered with an 11-2 run of their own, to take a 56-50 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Wisconsin was unable to maintain the lead, as the Wildcats outscored the Badgers, 20-11 in the final quarter.

Northwestern was led by Paige Mott, who ended the game with 23 points and nine rebounds. Caleigh Walsh added 18 points.

The Badgers will return to the Kohl Center on Wednesday night to face No. 2 Ohio State. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m.

"I thought it was a good look, it could have been worse, it could have been better. They did a good job taking away our first option."

Head Coach Marisa Moseley

"First I just want to acknowledge the historical day with Theresa Huff. Acknowledging her jersey retirement, bummed I wasn't out there to see her reaction as it went up into the rafters. She just came and spoke to the team for a little bit, talking about the energy and the effort they put forth in the game, and that her grandkids love the team and she will definitely continue to come back. That's what we want to make sure we do, that the legacy that we continue to pass on. Congratulation to her and we hope that her and her family enjoyed the day."

"Obviously not the outcome we wanted, but we just have to continue to move forward and clean up our turnovers, and there were some opportunities there to make winning players and we came up a little short."
