STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Wisconsin women's basketball team was unable to close it out against Penn State, as it fell 74-69 on Sunday evening in a back-and-forth battle.
The Badgers (6-14, 2-7 Big Ten) had four players in double figures, as Julie Pospisilova led the way with her first double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Â
Avery LaBarbera also had 18 points, added seven rebounds and six assists. Serah Williams and Brooke Schramek rounded out double figure scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Wisconsin got off to a hot start, going 4-for-6 from behind the arc. Penn State battled back to take the lead going into halftime, 35-30.Â
Penn State's Taniyah Thompson carried the Nittany Lions to victory with 15 points in the fourth quarter. Penn State (12-8, 3-6 Big Ten) outscored the Badgers, 27-19 in the final quarter.
Taniyah Thompson posted a season-high with 27 points, and went 5-for-6 from behind the arc.Â
The Badgers will return to the Kohl Center on Wednesday, Jan. 25 to face Valparaiso at 6:30 p.m.. This matchup will be a reschedule from the previously scheduled game on Dec. 22. Â
