EAST LANSING, Mich. - Freshman Serah Williams made a statement, notching a career-high 31 points and 13 rebounds as the Badgers beat the Michigan State Spartans in overtime, 84-80, on Wednesday night.Â
Williams finished off the night shooting 13-of-16 from the field and 5-of-7 at the free throw line, as she earned her second double-double of the season. Maty Wilke added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists for Wisconsin. Brooke Schramek rounded out double-digit scorers for Wisconsin with 12 points, as well as five assists.
The Badgers (6-11, 2-4 B1G) went 8-for-11 at the free throw line in overtime, as they held off the Spartans and secured their second Big Ten win on the season. This is the first time since the 2016-17 season the Badgers have won back-to-back regular season Big Ten games.
Wisconsin led 32-25 heading into halftime, and extended that lead to 40-29 halfway through the third quarter.Â
The Spartans battled back and tied it up at 66 with 1:45 left to play. Michigan State took their first lead of the night, 70-68, with 23 seconds remaining. Serah Williams hit a game-tying layup to knot it up at 70 apiece with 9 seconds left in regulation.Â
The Badgers will hit the road again on Sunday, Jan. 15 to face No. 6 Indiana.
